Bio

Benjamin Lynde (he/him) serves as policy counsel to the ACLU of Georgia. Ben uses his experience working for the Georgia General Assembly and his commitment towards civil liberties to advocate for Georgia’s citizens across the state and under the Gold Dome. Ben has a particular interest in advocating for increased First Amendment protections and ensuring Georgian’s due process rights are upheld. Before joining the ACLU of Georgia, Ben was a senior policy analyst with the General Assembly, staffing the Senate Judiciary Committee. Earlier in his legal career, he was a public defender in rural Georgia, standing for underserved communities in all manner of criminal cases – from juvenile misdemeanors to serious violent felonies. Ben graduated from Clayton State University and received his law degree, magna cum laude, from Georgia State University. While at GSU, he represented low-income households in federal tax court and helped establish and coordinated the GSU Veteran’s Legal Clinic.
