Bio
Brian Klosterboer is a staff attorney who joined the ACLU of Texas as a Skadden fellow in 2018. Brian focuses on defending and expanding the rights of LGBTQIA+ Texans and represents students and families who face discrimination based on gender, race, and religion across the state. As a member of the ACLU of Texas’s smart justice team, Brian also engages in impact litigation and advocacy to transform Texas’s criminal justice system, end police violence against Black and Latinx communities, and defend the rights of protesters across the state.
Prior to joining the ACLU of Texas, Brian served as a law clerk for Judge Vanessa D. Gilmore of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Brian graduated from Harvard Law School and Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. In 2012, Brian spent a year living in Kampala, Uganda, where he conducted research as a Fulbright Fellow, worked as a journalist, and co-founded a bar and restaurant. A Texas native, Brian is the current chair of the LGBT Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and an adjunct faculty member teaching Civil Rights Actions at South Texas College of Law Houston.
