Leah Kang is a staff attorney with the ACLU of North Carolina where she works on a range of civil rights and racial justice issues.

Prior to joining the ACLU of North Carolina in 2019, Leah was a Staff Attorney at Forward Justice, where her work focused on voting rights. She also spent two years at Advancement Project in Washington, D.C., where she provided community lawyering support for grassroots and youth-led organizations across the country in their campaigns for education justice.

Leah clerked for the Honorable O. Rogeriee Thompson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the Honorable Theodore D. Chuang of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. She received her B.A. in History, with a minor in Human Rights, from Columbia University, where she graduated phi beta kappa. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Before law school, Leah had the immense privilege of teaching fifth grade in a New York City public school in the Bronx for three years.
