Friday was a slow news day in DC.
Said absolutely no one.
Anyone looking to bury bad news had a perfect opportunity on Friday afternoon in wake of what I'm dubbing Resign-A-Palooza. In the morning, President Obama announced that Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki was resigning in the wake of scandal at the VA hospital in Phoenix, Ariz.
Several hours later, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney surprised reporters during the daily briefing by announcing his plans to leave. Josh Earnest, Carney's deputy, is the new Press Secretary.
